One night, a fierce storm swept through Silverbrook Valley.
Rain poured from the sky while the river rushed, roared, and spilled over its banks.

When Jojo woke up the next morning, the sun was shining again.
“Let’s go fishing!” he said to his friends.

Fifi, Nico, and Livy grabbed their fishing rods and hurried after him.

The fishing dock was one of their favorite places in all of Silverbrook Valley.
But when they reached the riverbank, they stopped.

The dock was gone.

Only a few broken posts stuck out of the water, and the river flowed past them as if the dock had never been there.

The children stared.

At last, Jojo kicked a stone into the river.
“This is a disaster,” he said.

The next day at school, everyone was talking about the storm.

“My father said the Valley Elders met this morning,” Nico said.
“They decided not to rebuild the dock.”

“What?” Jojo exclaimed.
”That’s so unfair!”
He nudged a stone with his shoe.
The stone rolled across the schoolyard and bumped into Nico’s lunchbox.

CLUNK.

Nico looked up.
“Watch it,” he said.

Jojo opened his mouth to argue.

Then he sighed.
“Sorry.”

He sat down on the stone bench and folded his arms.
The rest of the day, Jojo hardly spoke at all.

After school, the children tried speaking to one of the elders.

But before anyone else could say a word, Jojo launched into a speech about how unfair everything was.

The elder gave them a kind smile.
“I’m sorry, children, but I have work to do,” he said before hurrying away.

“Why didn’t you say anything?” Jojo asked his friends.

Livy shrugged.
“What’s the point? Grown-ups never listen anyway.”

Fifi shrugged too.
“Who cares?
It’s just an old dock.”
But everyone could tell she cared very much.

One afternoon, Mr. Alder, the teacher, found the children talking about rebuilding the dock.
“Have you told the elders why the dock matters to you?” he asked.

“Of course we did!” Jojo exclaimed.
“But they don’t care.”

“Well... maybe we didn’t explain exactly why it matters,” Fifi admitted.

Mr. Alder smiled.
“When we’re angry, people don’t always hear us. But people usually listen to stories.”

“What could we tell them?” Livy asked.

Mr. Alder looked at the children.
“I’m sure each of you has a story about what the dock meant to you,” he said.
“Why don’t you tell those?”

And with that, he returned to the classroom.

This time, they didn’t talk about rebuilding.

Fifi talked about long summer days at the dock.
She and her friends would dive into the river, then lie on the warm wooden boards to dry in the sunshine.

Livy remembered sitting with her friends, watching ducks glide across the water while the river sparkled in the afternoon sun.

“My father taught me how to fish there when I was too little to hold the rod properly,” said Jojo.
“One day, I dropped the fishing rod into the river, and my father laughed so hard while they were trying to pull it back out.”

“When I first came to Silverbrook Valley, I felt lonely,” Nico said.
“But Jojo invited me to go fishing, and soon we were spending most afternoons there having fun together.”

After sharing their memories, the angry feelings inside them seemed smaller.
Now they were just sad because they missed something they loved.

“The Great Oak Assembly is tomorrow,” Nico said.

“Then that’s where we speak up,” Fifi added.

The next day, the children went to the Great Oak Assembly.

The elders were discussing roads, gardens, and repairs from the storm.
Every time the children tried to speak, someone would say,
“Please wait,” or
“This is a meeting for grown-ups.”

Soon, the meeting was almost over.

Then Livy stepped forward.
Her heart thumped fast inside her chest.

For a moment, she almost stayed where she was.
But this was too important.
“We live in Silverbrook Valley too,” she said.
”And we have something important to say.”

The crowd fell silent.

The children walked to the front.
They spoke about family, friendship, and afternoons spent beside the river.

When they finished, a kind elder named Rowan stood.
“Thank you, children, for sharing your memories,” he said.
“Now I understand why the dock is so important to you.”

The children smiled. At last, they had been heard.

Then Rowan’s expression grew serious.
“But there is something important you should know,” he said.
“The riverbank where the old dock stood is no longer safe. We cannot rebuild it there.”

The children looked down.
For a moment, nobody spoke.

Nico was the first to look up.
“What if we build somewhere else?” he asked.

Rowan nodded.
“We may be able to build a little further upstream,” he said.
“But it won’t be the same dock.”

Jojo thought for a moment.
“Then let’s make it even better,” he said.

Rowan smiled.
“What do you have in mind?”

Everyone had ideas.

“A bigger fishing platform!”
“A diving platform!”
“Picnic tables and benches under the trees!”
“Quiet places for friends and families to sit and enjoy nature!”

Together, they designed a new dock and gathering place for the whole valley to share.

After a few weeks, everyone in Silverbrook Valley gathered for the opening celebration.

“This place began with an idea,” Rowan said.
“And it would never have existed without the children of Silverbrook Valley.”

The children beamed with pride as everyone applauded.

Later that afternoon, Jojo sat beside the river with his friends.

The old dock was gone, and Jojo still missed it sometimes.

He looked around at the fishing platform, the picnic tables, and the families gathered beneath the trees.

Then he smiled.

Sometimes things change, he thought.

But in Silverbrook Valley, when people listen to one another and work together, they create something new.

Share Connection Bridge Parenting

It was a lovely summer day in Feathernest Woods.

Sissy the Cat was chasing butterflies.
Fred the Frog bounced beside her, trying to hop as high as they could fly.

“Look at this one!” Sissy giggled.

Boing!
Fred leaped through the grass and landed with a soft plop.

Nearby, Bobby the Bear and Lela the Elephant were laughing too.
Lela used her trunk to blow dandelion fluff into the air while Bobby tried to catch it.

Then—
Buzzzzzzz!
A buzzing sound zipped past their heads.

“Oh!” Sissy cried, ducking down.

Fred stumbled backward into the grass.

A little bee swooped around them.
Past Bobby’s ears…
around Lela’s trunk…
then low beside Sissy’s tail.

Buzzzzz!

“Too loud!” Bobby said, covering his ears.

Then they saw her.
It was ZeeZee the Bee, her wings shimmering in the sunshine.

She buzzed close for a moment…
then circled back toward their game again.

Buzzzzzzz!

Sissy frowned.
“We don’t want buzzing right now.”

ZeeZee disappeared behind a patch of tall flowers.

The friends tried to play again.

But a moment later—
Buzzzzz!
ZeeZee swooped past once more.

Fred jumped.
Sissy ducked.
Bobby covered his ears.

“She keeps interrupting our game,” Bobby said.
“Let’s go somewhere else.”

They walked all the way to Bobby Bear’s house.

Inside, Mama Bear was cooking in the kitchen.
The room smelled warm and sweet.

“You all look very grumbly today,” Mama Bear said gently.

“A bee kept buzzing around us!” Fred said.
“She wouldn’t leave us alone,” Sissy added.
“The buzzing scared us,” Bobby explained.
“And it kept interrupting our game,” said Lela.

Mama Bear listened while she stirred the pot.
“Why do you think she was buzzing so much?” she asked.

The children blinked.

“Maybe she wanted to bother us,” Fred said.
“Or maybe she didn’t want us to play,” Sissy added.

Mama Bear was quiet for a moment.

“Hmmm,” she said softly.
“I wonder if there could be another reason.”

The children looked up.

Another reason?

Mama Bear placed warm blueberry muffins onto little plates.

“Sometimes,” she said,
“when someone acts loud or bouncy,
they may be feeling something underneath that we cannot see yet.”

The children thought about it as they ate their muffins.

They all walked back toward the pond.

“What do you think she wanted?” Fred asked.

Bobby scratched his ear.
“How would we know?”

“She didn’t talk to us,” Sissy said.
“She just buzzed everywhere.”

“Maybe we could ask her,” Lela suggested.

Fred’s eyes widened.
“Ask her? What if she starts buzzing at us again?”

Lela took a slow breath.
“Well… maybe we can ask from far away first.”

That felt safer.

Soon they reached the meadow again.

Buzzzzz…
ZeeZee was hovering above a daisy.

The friends stopped walking.

Fred stood behind Bobby.
Bobby stood behind Lela.

Sissy took one small, brave step forward.
“Um…” she said softly.

ZeeZee turned around.
Her wings buzzed faster for one tiny moment,
as if she expected them to chase her away again.

But nobody moved.

Sissy swallowed.
“Do you… want to talk to us?” she asked.

ZeeZee blinked in surprise.
Her buzzing slowed.

“Do you want to talk to me?” she asked.

The friends nodded.

“We wanted to know why you kept buzzing around us,” Bobby explained.

ZeeZee looked down at the grass.
“Why did you chase me away?” she asked.

Everyone grew quiet for a moment.

“I thought you were trying to bother us,” Fred admitted.

“You flew very close,” Sissy added.
“And we were scared.”

ZeeZee’s wings gave a small, shaky buzz.

“I saw all of you laughing together,” she said.
“And I wanted to play too.”

She looked down at the grass again.

“But then everyone started shouting…
and I got angry.”

“We thought you were angry before,” Lela said.

ZeeZee shook her head.
“I got angry after.”

Fred gave a small hop.
“We didn’t ask what you wanted,” he admitted.

“And I didn’t use my words,” ZeeZee added.

For a moment, everyone was quiet again.

Then Fred smiled.

“Well…” he said,
“maybe we can start over.”

ZeeZee’s wings fluttered.
“I’d like that,” she said.

Soon, everything felt warm and cheerful again.
Butterflies drifted through the sunshine.

ZeeZee buzzed happily between her new friends.

And this time,
nobody felt left out.

Because in Feathernest Woods,
sometimes friends misunderstand each other.

But talking about it helps everyone feel heard.

And yet, letting go of clothes that no longer fit isn’t always simple.

When I first watched Ann’s lesson, Declutter Clothing With Kids, I was impressed by the way she approached it as an opportunity to connect and build skills.

Instead of pressure or logical arguments, Ann encourages helping children notice what feels right for their body and make thoughtful decisions for themselves.

Her lesson includes many practical ideas, but the one that resonated with me most was to imagine you’re in a store trying on new clothes. How would you decide?

That exercise sparked the idea for this story, which we created together as a companion to her lesson.

On a beautiful Friday afternoon, Livy received an invitation tied with a golden ribbon.

It was for the Moonlight Lantern Festival.

Livy could hardly wait.

“I want the perfect dress,” she said, twirling around her room.
“I know exactly where to go. Mrs. Maple’s shop!”

Mrs. Maple loved helping children choose clothes.

Her little shop was filled with hand-sewn dresses, soft scarves, and beautiful fabrics in every color imaginable.

When Livy opened the door, a tiny bell jingled overhead.

Mrs. Maple looked up from folding scarves.
“Well, hello, Livy,” she said with a smile.
“Are you looking for something special today?”

“The Moonlight Lantern Festival,” Livy replied.
“I need a dress.”

Livy wandered slowly through the shop.

There were dresses everywhere.

Some shimmered.
Some sparkled.
Some had ribbons.
Some had lace.

Livy’s eyes grew wide.

“How do I choose?” she asked.
“They’re all so beautiful.”

Mrs. Maple smiled.

“You don’t have to decide all at once,” she said.
“We’ll take it one step at a time.”
“Choose one dress to try on first.
Then we’ll see how it feels.”

That felt much easier.

So Livy chose a shiny silver dress with tiny pieces of glitter sparkling across the skirt.

A few moments later, she stepped out of the changing room.
The dress shimmered every time she moved.

Livy stared at herself in the mirror.
“It’s beautiful,” she whispered.

Mrs. Maple smiled.
“Does the fabric feel nice against your skin?”

Livy rubbed her arms.
“It’s a little uncomfortable,” she admitted.
“The glitter scratches my hands when I touch the skirt.”

Mrs. Maple nodded.
“Would you enjoy wearing it at the festival?”

Livy looked at the dress again.

“It’s very beautiful,” she said.
“But I don’t think I’d feel comfortable dancing in it.”

“I’m glad you noticed that,” Mrs. Maple said.
“Let’s try another.”

Livy nodded.

Next, she chose an emerald green dress with satin ribbons and tiny embroidered flowers near the collar. The skirt was soft and flowy, like ribbons drifting through the air.

When Livy stepped out of the changing room, she gave a little twirl.

Swish.
The skirt floated gently around her legs.

“How does this one feel?” Mrs. Mapple asked.

Livy touched the fabric.
“It feels soft, like a blanket,” she said.

“Does it fit well?”

Livy nodded.
“It fits just right.”

“And how do you feel when you wear it?” Mrs. Maple asked.

Livy looked in the mirror again.

The deep green fabric shimmered softly in the light.
Her cheeks lifted into a smile.

“I feel beautiful,” she said.

Mrs. Maple’s eyes twinkled.
“And does it feel like a Lantern Festival dress?”

Livy imagined glowing lanterns beside the river.
She imagined music drifting through the night air.
She imagined dancing with her friends beneath golden lights.

A warm feeling spread through her chest.

“Yes,” she said brightly.
“It feels exactly right.”

Mrs. Maple nodded.
“Then I think you’ve found your dress.”

Livy carried the dress home in a paper bag tied with ribbon.

When she reached her room, she opened her closet to hang it up.
But there was no room inside.
The hangers were squeezed tightly together.

When Livy tried to make space, two dresses slipped from their hangers and tumbled onto the floor.
She stuffed them back inside and pushed the closet door closed.

Pop.

The door bounced open again.

Livy stared at the overflowing closet.

Then she sat down on her bed with a long sigh.

“I don’t know how to fix this,” she said.
“It feels too big.”

After a moment, her face brightened a little.
“I’ll call Fifi.”

A little while later, Fifi stood beside the crowded closet.

“I think your closet needs a little more breathing room,” she said.
“Let’s take everything out and place it on the bed.”

Soon, the bed looked like a mountain of dresses and sweaters.

Livy’s shoulders drooped.
“This is going to take forever,” she groaned.

Fifi sat beside her.
“Let’s focus on just one thing right now,” she said.
“Just one.”

That felt much easier.

Fifi picked up a pink dress with silver buttons and tiny sparkles along the skirt.

“That used to be your favorite dress,” Fifi said.
“I haven’t seen you wear it lately.”

Livy took the dress and tried it on.

She pulled the zipper up.

Up…
up…
up…

But it stopped halfway.

Livy reached behind her back and tried again.“It doesn’t fit anymore,” she sighed.

“Is that why you stopped wearing it?” Fifi asked.

Livy nodded.

She held the dress quietly for a moment.

“I loved this dress so much,” she said.
“But I think someone else would enjoy it now.”

She folded the dress and placed it into a box for giving away.

Next, Fifi picked up a pale yellow dress with puffy sleeves and lace around the collar.

“What about this one?” she asked.

Livy tried it on.

“It still fits,” she said.
“But the collar feels itchy around my neck.”
“I never want to wear it for very long.”

Fifi touched the lace.

“That makes sense,” she said.
“What would you like to do with it?”

Livy thought for a moment.

“I want to give this one away too.”

Into the giving-away box it went.

Next, Fifi lifted a beautiful costume dress from the pile.

It was made of deep purple velvet with silver moons stitched along the skirt. Long flowing sleeves hung from the arms like something from an old fairy tale.

Livy’s eyes brightened immediately.

“Oh, I remember this one,” Fifi said.
“You wore it in the Silverbrook School play.”
”Do you still wear it?”

Livy smiled.
“Not every day,” she said.
“But I still love it.”

She touched the soft velvet.

“It fits well,” Livy said.
“And I like pretending in it.”

“That sounds like an important reason to keep it,” Fifi said.

“Yes,” Livy nodded.
“I want this one to stay.”

So they carefully hung the costume dress back inside the closet.

Little by little, they went through everything.

Some clothes no longer fit.
Some felt uncomfortable.
Some were still loved very much.

They folded sweaters neatly onto the shelves.
They hung dresses carefully so they could move without getting squished together.
The mountain on the bed finally disappeared.

Livy stepped back and looked at the closet.
“It looks bigger,” she said.

Fifi giggled.
“It’s the same closet,” she said.
“There’s just room to breathe now.”

Then Livy picked up her new emerald green Lantern Festival dress.
Very carefully, she hung it inside the closet.
This time, it fit perfectly between the other dresses.

They looked around the room.
Everything felt peaceful again.

Livy looked at Fifi.
“I don’t think I could have done this by myself,” she said.
“When I first opened the closet, it felt impossible.”

Fifi smiled back.
“Sometimes big jobs feel that way,” she said.
“But it’s easier when we take them one thing at a time.”

And in Silverbrook Valley, even the biggest jobs feel smaller with a friend beside you.

The Feathernest Woods Spring Picnic had been wonderful.

The pies were warm and flaky.
The fruit salad was sweet.
The juice was cool and refreshing.

Sissy the Cat curled her tail happily.
Fred the Frog wiggled his little feet.
Lela the Elephant sighed a happy sigh.

Bobby looked at the blankets.
“Can we relax before the games start?” he asked.
“That sounds lovely,” said Mama Bear.

The children stood up and looked around.

Dirty plates covered the table.
Napkins were scattered across the grass.
Little bits of fruit were everywhere.
Big Meadow looked very messy.

“I’m tired,” Bobby said.
“Preparing the picnic was a lot of work,” Sissy added.
“So much work,” Fred agreed.

Lela looked around the meadow again.
“But if we don’t clean the meadow,” she said,
“we won’t have space for the games.”

Bobby looked at Mama Bear.
“How long will it take to clean everything?” he asked.

Mama Bear looked around the meadow.
“It’s a lot to clean,” she said.
“It might take the whole afternoon.”

“The whole afternoon?” Sissy gasped.

Fred fell backward.
“Oh no!” he cried.
“What about the games?”

“Is there anything we can do to make it easier?” Sissy asked.

Bobby scratched his head.
“What if…” he said slowly,
“We all picked up just one thing?”

Mama Elephant nodded.
“I think that would help,” she said.
“Let’s all try it together.”

Fred hopped up right away.
“I’ll grab one napkin!”

But just as Fred picked it up—
Whoosh!

The wind blew the napkin away.
Fred chased after it.

Boing.
Boing.
Boing.

Finally, he caught it.

“I won’t let it get away again!” Fred said.
And he placed the napkin into the big cleanup bag.

Sissy picked up one cup.
She carried it to the washing tub,
where Mama Cat was cleaning the dishes.

That was easier than she thought.
So she picked up another cup.
Then another.

Bobby carried the plates carefully to the washing tub.
One plate.
Then another.
“This isn’t so hard,” Bobby thought.

Lela folded the chairs
and carried them back to the chair stack.

But Lela was getting tired.
The chairs felt heavy now.

Mama Bear noticed.
“Lela could use a little help,” she said.
Mama Bear carried a few chairs.
Mama Elephant carried the rest.
Soon, the chairs were stacked neatly again.

Everyone kept picking up one thing.
After a little while,
the table was empty
The grass was clear.

Big Meadow looked beautiful again.

“Cleanup was faster than we thought,” Sissy said.
“One thing at a time is easy,” Bobby added.

The blankets looked soft and cozy.
The sun felt warm.
The grass felt soft beneath their feet.
The children looked at the meadow and smiled.

Because in Feathernest Woods,
no one has to do big jobs alone.

When I read Sheeba’s post, When My Child Became My Teacher, I was fascinated.

Learning how to swim as an adult already takes courage.

But what I loved most was the way Sheeba turned that experience into a moment of connection while showing that becoming an adult doesn’t mean we stop growing.

After that, I knew I wanted to learn more about Sheeba and her work.

So when she told me she also writes children’s stories, inviting her to contribute a story about fear felt like a natural fit.

Banno and The Big Blue River, by Sheeba

Ambar Forest was one of those magical places where all the animals lived together in peace.

The trees were so big that it took three elephants standing trunk-to-tail to measure around them. The leaves were as green as green could be. And the great river that flowed through the forest sparkled blue under the sunshine.

The hippos lived near the river. It made life much easier for them.

But one mama hippo always grumbled.

“Of all the places in the forest,” she muttered,
“The elders had to choose here!”

That mama hippo’s name was Banno.

And every day, she kept a very close eye on the river.

“Bubbly!” Banno suddenly shouted.

A little round baby hippo came huffing toward her.
Banno scrunched up her face.
Bubbly’s feet were covered in mud.

Bubbly saw Mama’s expression and quickly raised both feet.

“No, Mama! I didn’t go in the river, I promise!”

“Then why are your feet muddy?”

“The monkeys are making clay pots,” said Bubbly.
“They asked me to stomp the clay for them.”

Banno sighed.
She pulled Bubbly close and looked toward the river.

“Good. Stay away from that water.”

Bubbly blinked.
“Why?”

“Because rivers are dangerous.”

Bubbly followed her mother’s gaze.

The river looked beautiful.
But Mama sounded so serious that Bubbly decided rivers must be very scary indeed.

All the other hippos splashed around in the water, but Banno never went in, and Bubbly wasn’t allowed to either.

A few days later, Bubbly went exploring through the forest.

Soon she met her friend Iris, a young elephant with bright, curious eyes.

“Come on!” said Iris. “Let’s see what adventures we can find today.”

The two friends wandered through the forest.

Iris found a mango tree full of mangoes.

“Watch me shake them down!”
Iris held the tree with her little trunk and shook it. Nothing happened.

Bubbly laughed.
“The tree didn’t shake, only you shook! You are not big enough, Iris!”

Iris playfully charged at Bubbly, and the two tumbled into the mango tree. Four mangoes fell down!

As they relished the juicy, ripe mangoes, Iris talked about the sights she had seen while walking through the forest with her family.

“Do you know, deeper in the forest, there are these fellows called zebras.”
”And every day they argue whether they have black stripes on white skin or white stripes on black skin.”
Iris’s trunk was waving up and down excitedly.

“So which is it?” Bubbly asked curiously.

“They are full of stripes! Black, white, black, white... That’s it!”

Bubbly laughed. Iris always had the craziest stories.

Eventually, they reached the river.
The water sparkled in the sunshine.

Iris smiled.
“Let’s go swimming!”

Bubbly immediately stepped backward.
“Oh no.”

“Why not?”

“The river is dangerous.”

“Have you ever been swimming?”

Bubbly shook her head.
“No.”

“Then how do you know?”

Bubbly opened her mouth.
Then closed it again.
She wasn’t really sure.

She only knew Mama was afraid of the river.
And somehow, she had become afraid, too.

Iris carefully stepped into the shallow water.

“Look!” she said.
“Nothing happened.”

Bubbly stood at the edge.

Her tummy felt funny.
What if she slipped?
What if she sank?
What if she got swept away?

Just then, a deep voice called out.
“Iris!”

Both children turned around.

Mama Elephant and Papa Elephant were walking toward them.
Their faces looked concerned.

“What are you two doing here alone?” asked Papa Elephant.

“We wanted to swim,” said Iris.

Mama Elephant shook her head.
“The river is wonderful, children. But it deserves respect.”
“You must never try to learn to swim without grown-ups nearby.”

The two youngsters lowered their heads.
“Sorry.”

Then Papa Elephant smiled.
“Since we’re already here, how about we teach you properly?”

Bubbly wasn’t sure about this at all.

She stood ankle-deep in the water.
Her legs trembled.
The river felt cold.

“Come a little closer,” said Mama Elephant gently.

“I’ll drown,” whispered Bubbly.

“No, you won’t,” said Papa Elephant kindly.
“We won’t let that happen.”

Slowly, little by little, Bubbly stepped farther into the water.

Nothing bad happened.
The river didn’t grab her.
The river didn’t pull her away.

Soon, she was floating.
A tiny bit.
Then a little more.

Then suddenly—
“Splash!”

Bubbly paddled across the shallow water.

“LOOK! I’M DOING IT!”

Iris cheered.
Mama Elephant laughed.
Papa Elephant clapped.
Bubbly couldn’t stop smiling.

At that very moment, another hippo came crashing through the bushes.
“BUBBLY!”

It was Banno.

She looked frightened...
and angry...
and relieved.

All at the same time.

“I’ve been looking everywhere for you!”
Bubbly froze.

The elephant parents quickly stepped forward.
“It’s alright,” said Mama Elephant.
“She’s safe.”

Banno’s eyes filled with tears.
“You don’t understand,” she said softly.
“When I was little, I nearly drowned.”

Everyone became quiet.

“The river scared me then,” Banno continued.
“And it has scared me ever since.”

She looked at Bubbly.
“I never wanted you to get hurt.”

Bubbly walked over and nuzzled her mother.
“I know, Mama.”

Papa Elephant smiled gently.
“Fear can keep us safe.”

Then he pointed toward the river.

“But sometimes fear can also keep us from discovering what we’re capable of.”

Banno looked toward the water.
Then she looked at Bubbly.

Her daughter was standing in the river.
Happy.
Confident.
Brave.

Banno took a deep breath.

“If Bubbly can do it,” she swallowed,
“Maybe I can too.”

A few minutes later, Banno stood at the river’s edge.
Her legs felt shaky.
Every old fear had returned.

“Easy now,” said Papa Elephant.

Banno stepped into the water.
A little farther.
Then a little farther still.

Soon she began splashing and kicking wildly.

“Oh dear!” laughed Bubbly.

Water flew everywhere.

Bubbly and Iris giggled so hard they nearly fell over.

“Don’t fight the water,” said Papa Elephant.
“Let it hold you.”

Banno paused.
She took a deep breath.
Then she stopped struggling.
The water gently lifted her.

“There you go,” said Mama Elephant encouragingly.
“Now kick and float.”

To her surprise, it worked.

When Banno stopped fighting her fear, the river became her friend. It was carrying her.

For the first time in many years, Banno felt something she had never expected to feel.
She was enjoying herself.

From that day on, Banno, Bubbly, Iris, and the elephant family met by the river almost every evening.
They splashed.
They laughed.
They played games in the cool water.

And whenever Banno felt a little flutter of fear in her tummy, she remembered something important.

Being brave doesn’t mean you never feel afraid.

Sometimes being brave means taking one small step anyway.
And then another.
And another.
Until one day, you find yourself swimming.

The Feathernest Spring Picnic was ready.

“This is a beautiful table,” Mama Bear said.
“Let’s eat.”

Everyone began filling their plates.
They were hungry,
and the food was warm and delicious.

Soon, they started talking.
“I went to the stream!” said Bobby the Bear.
“The water splashed my paws!”

“I caught the apples when they fell!” said Sissy the Cat.

Fred the Frog bounced in his seat.
“I did the biggest frog jump ever!”

Lela the Elephant lifted her trunk.
“I carried all the chairs!”

Soon, everyone was talking together.

Fred tried to talk louder.
“BOING!” he shouted proudly.

Then everyone tried talking louder, too.
“STREAM!”
“APPLES!”
“CHAIRS!”

Some of the little animals covered their ears.
A tiny bunny started to cry.
“I can’t hear anything,” he sniffled.

Mama Elephant looked around.
“Hey, everyone,” she said.
Her voice was loud and clear,
and everyone stopped talking.

“We all have stories to share,” Mama Elephant continued.

“But when everyone talks at once,
we can’t listen to each other.”
“We need to take turns.”

“Do you want to go first, Sissy?” Mama Elephant asked.

Sissy sat up straight.
“I liked catching the apples when Fred shook the tree,” she said.
“They bounced all over the grass!”
Fred giggled.

Then it was Bobby’s turn.
“I was washing the vegetables in the stream,” he said.
“Some of them floated away,
and I had to run after them!”
“The water splashed everywhere!”
Everyone liked listening to Bobby’s story.

Now it was Fred’s turn.
Fred puffed out his frog chest.
“I helped with the apples,” he said.
“And I put all these plates on the table.”

He waved toward the table proudly.
“I did it using frog jumps…
and a stool!”

Fred bounced in his seat.
“Boing! Boing! Boing!”
Everyone laughed again.

Then Lela lifted her trunk.
“I liked carrying the chairs,” she said.
“I placed them all around the table
so we could sit.”
“And I fell on the sacks for the race!”
“But my friends helped me put everything back.”
They all giggled.

Next, it was Mama Bear’s turn.
“I felt proud when you all decided to make a fruit salad,” she said.

“That way,
everyone could have their favorite fruit.”

“I liked watching everyone help each other,” Mama Elephant said.

“And I’m excited for the games after we eat,” Mama Cat added.

The picnic table felt different now.
Everyone was listening.
Everyone was having fun.
The tiny bunny had stopped crying.

He leaned against his mama
and listened to all the stories.

When his turn came,
he didn’t know what to say.
It was his first time sharing something
at the picnic table.

But everyone was quiet.
Everyone was waiting.

The little bunny took a small breath.
“I liked eating the fruit salad,” he said.
“And sitting with everyone.”

“Yay!” they all cheered.
The little bunny cheered, too.

Mama Bear looked around the table.
“I like eating with all of you,” she said.

The sun felt warm above the meadow.

It was Sunday afternoon in Silverbrook Valley.
Tomorrow was Shared Snack Day at school.

Fifi and Livy sat at the kitchen table in Fifi’s house. They were looking at an old recipe book with worn corners and flour marks across the cover.

“We should make something extra special,” Livy said.

“Everyone will bring snacks,” Fifi added.
“But we can make something everyone remembers.”

They started turning the pages together. There were blueberry muffins, fruit pies, and simple cookies dusted with sugar.
Then Livy stopped near the middle of the book and pointed to a picture.

“What about this?” she asked.

It was a tall cake covered in swirls of frosting and tiny berries arranged around the top like jewels.

Fifi’s eyes grew wide.
“It looks beautiful,” she whispered.

“And complicated,” Livy added.

The girls looked at each other.
“Let’s do it!” they decided with a smile.

Soon, the kitchen filled with happy sounds.

Crack.
Stir.
Pour.

Fifi carefully measured the flour while Livy mixed the eggs and sugar together in a large bowl.

A little flour landed on the table.
Some landed on Livy’s nose.

Fifi laughed.
“You look like a snowman.”

Livy giggled and brushed the flour off her face.

When the mixture was finally ready, they poured it carefully into a cake pan and slid it into the oven.

Livy crouched down to look through the oven door.
“Should we set a timer?” she asked.

Fifi shook her head confidently.
“Our moms don’t use timers,” she said.
“We can do it too.”

“We’re practically bakers already,” Livy agreed.

While the cake was baking, the girls started making the frosting.

They stirred powdered sugar and milk together in a bowl. Then they each dipped a spoon to taste it.

“Too sweet,” Livy decided.

So they added more milk.
But after stirring again, the frosting became too runny.

“Now it needs more sugar again,” Fifi said.

They kept mixing, tasting, and adjusting.

“What if we make it pink?” Livy asked.

Fifi’s eyes lit up.
“Ooooh, that’s a great idea.”

They added a few crushed berries and watched the frosting slowly change color.

“Do you smell something?” Livy asked.

Fifi sniffed the air.
“Hmm… maybe a little,” she said.
But she was busy stirring the frosting, so she kept mixing.

A moment later, the smell grew stronger.
The girls stopped.
Their eyes widened.
“The cake!” they shouted together.

They rushed to the oven and pulled the door open. Warm air puffed into the kitchen. Fifi carefully lifted the cake out and placed it on the counter.

The cake was much too dark. The edges were black, and the top had cracked wide open.
Livy closed the oven door again.

The kitchen, which had felt so happy and noisy before, suddenly felt very quiet.

Fifi was the first to speak.
“It’s getting late,” she said.

Golden sunlight shone through the window, filling the kitchen with a warm glow.

“Shared Snack Day is tomorrow morning,” Livy said.

The girls checked the cupboards, but there wasn’t enough flour to bake anything else.

Livy lowered her eyes.
“What are we going to do?” she asked.

For a moment, Fifi didn’t know what to say.
Then she remembered something.
“My dad always says that sometimes your feet help your thoughts,” she said.

Livy looked up.
“What does that mean?”

“When something feels too big,” Fifi explained,
“My dad says it helps to take a little walk first.”

Livy glanced back at the cake. There was nothing they could do to fix it now.
Then she gave a small nod.
“I think my thoughts need help,” she said.

“So do mine,” Fifi agreed.

The girls slipped on their shoes and stepped outside.

They walked slowly along the winding path beside the river, watching the light shimmer across the water.

In the distance, they could see the old fishing dock.
“Let’s go sit there for a while,” Livy said.

As they walked toward the dock, Livy spoke again.
“I have walnuts at home,” she said.
“Maybe we could bring those.”

Fifi hesitated.
“That feels a little plain.”

Livy gave a small shrug.
“Plain is better than nothing,” she said.

For a moment, they listened to the river flowing beside them.

Then Livy sighed.
“We really should have used a timer,” she said.
“It would have been an awesome cake.”

“That’s true,” Fifi agreed.
“But when one plan stops working, we can make a new one.”
“Maybe we can put them in a beautiful bowl,” she added with a smile.

This time, Livy smiled too.
“Next Sunday,” she said,
“We’ll bake a new cake from scratch.”

“And bring it to school,” Fifi added.

They both nodded.
Because in Silverbrook Valley, you don’t need a special day to share cake with your friends.

In Feathernest Woods, the families were getting ready for the Spring Picnic.
Everyone was bringing something special to share.

One sunny morning, Mama Bear found the children playing by the pond.
“Have you decided what you will bring to the picnic?” she asked.

The children looked at each other.
Then they all spoke at once.
“We can’t cook!” said Lela.
“We are too small,” said Fred.
“I don’t know any recipes,” Bobby added.

Mama Bear smiled.
“That may be true,” she said.
“But maybe there is something else you can bring.”

Fred the Frog gave a big hop.
“I know!” he said.
“We can pick fruit!”

The children’s eyes lit up.

“Blueberries!” said Sissy.
“They are juicy and beautiful.”

“Bananas!” said Lela.
“They are sweet.”

“Apples,” said Bobby.
“They smell nice.”

“Strawberries!” Fred shouted.
“They are easy to eat!”

Soon, everyone was talking at once again.
“We all like different fruits,” Bobby said.

Sissy’s tail flicked.
“I have an idea,” she said.
“What if we pick all the fruits?”

“All of them?” Bobby asked.

“Yes!” Sissy said.

But suddenly—
Bonk!
One banana bumped her right on the head.

Lela burst into laughter.
“That banana surprised me!” she giggled.
The others laughed too.

Fred climbed carefully up the tree while the others held the bunch steady below.

Soon they had plenty of bananas in their basket.

Next, they walked to the apple tree.
The apples hung high above them.
Very high.

Sissy jumped.
Miss.

Fred puffed out his chest.
“I am an expert jumper,” he announced.
“Watch this!”

Boing!
He bounced.

Boing!
He bounced higher.

Then—
BOING!
Fred bumped the branch.

The whole tree shook.
Thump!
Thump!
Thump!
Apples tumbled down onto the grass.

The children cheered as they gathered the bright red apples into the basket.

Last, they climbed Strawberry Hill.

Bobby carefully picked strawberries into his basket.
But one small strawberry slipped away.
It rolled down the hill.
Then another rolled after it.
Soon, strawberries were rolling everywhere.

“Oh no!” Bobby cried.
“The strawberries are escaping!”

Everyone rushed after them.
Sissy caught one.
Fred leaped onto another.
Lela stopped two with her trunk.

At last, all the strawberries were safely tucked inside the basket.

The children carried their baskets back to Mama Bear’s house.

“Will you help us make a fruit salad?” Sissy asked.
“That’s a wonderful idea,” Mama Bear said.

Together they washed the fruit.

”We take you to magical places that you can only reach in your dreams.”
“Some children visit quiet forests, others float with gentle dragons or swim with friendly sea creatures.”

Jojo wanted to know more.
“How do I go to these places?” he asked.

“The only way is by falling asleep. Dreams are like doors, and they only open when you’re resting peacefully.”

Jojo looked at Wizzy.
“I’m ready to fall asleep now. I want to see these places for myself!”

“That’s the spirit, Jojo! Just close your eyes, take a few slow breaths, and let yourself drift into a magical dream.”

Jojo snuggled deeper into his bed and took a few slow breaths.

Silverbrook Valley was quiet.
Jojo’s eyes grew heavy, and his breathing slowed down.
His body felt calm and warm inside.

Wizzy and his dream helpers waved their wands, creating a dream world just for him.

In his dream, Jojo was on the back of a giant dragon, drifting slowly above quiet mountains and peaceful forests.

And so, Jojo learned that falling asleep wasn’t about missing out on fun.
It was about going on the most wonderful adventures.

She held it up near the light.
The shadow on the wall changed right away.

“Oh, it’s just my mouse,” Lela said.

Mama Elephant smiled.
“That’s right,” she said.
”When the light is low, the shapes stretch,”

Then Mama Elephant lifted her trunk and moved it near the light.
A new shadow appeared on the wall.

It looked round…
then tall…
Then a little bit silly.

Lela giggled.
Mama Elephant made another shape.

Lela lifted her arm from under the blanket.
She made shadows that wiggled and changed.
They laughed together.

Then Mama Elephant lowered her trunk.
She sat on the bed next to Lela
and tucked the blanket around her.

“Feathernest Woods is resting now,” said Mama Elephant.
“And you can rest too.”

Lela hugged her bunny.
Her stuffed mouse was resting next to her.
The shadow on the wall stayed still.
Just a quiet, silly shape.

Lela’s breathing slowed,
and her eyes grew heavy…

Outside, Feathernest Woods grew calm and peaceful.
And with Mama close by,
Lela drifted into sleep.

Nico sat at the edge of the stone bench. It was his first day at this school.
He reached inside his lunchbox and took out his snack. A sweet, spiced smell drifted into the air. It didn’t match anything else around him.

Before he could take a bite, Livy leaned a little closer.
“What’s that?” she asked, tilting her head.

She sniffed the air.
“It smells different.”

A few children giggled.

“It does smell different,” Fifi said.

More children turned to look at Nico’s snack. Nico looked down. He didn’t know what to say.

Then Fifi picked up the ball and stood up.
“Come on!” she said.
“If we stay here, we won’t have time to play!”

The children finished their snacks and ran off. They started kicking the ball and calling to one another. The game had begun.

Nico stayed where he was. He looked around and saw Jojo sitting on the bench nearby.
“Why aren’t you playing?” Nico asked.

Jojo shrugged, his hands resting on his knees.
“I forgot my snack today,” he said.
“I’m too hungry to play.”

Nico looked at his food, then back at Jojo.
“Do you want to share?” he asked.

Jojo looked at the snack.
“It looks different,” he said.

Nico nodded.
“I know, but it’s my favorite.”

Jojo’s stomach growled. He gave a small nod.
“Okay… I’ll try a little.”

Nico broke off a piece and handed it to him. Jojo took a bite and chewed slowly. His eyebrows lifted.

“It’s good,” Jojo said.
“A little sweet… and it smells like cinnamon.”
“Can I have more?”

Nico smiled and handed him another piece.

Fifi looked at them from across the playground.
“Are you eating Nico’s snack?” she asked.

Jojo nodded, still chewing.
“Mmm,” was all he could say.

Fifi left the game and walked over.
“Can I try?” she asked.

Nico handed her a piece.
Fifi took a bite.

“It’s not what I expected,” she said.
“But I like it more than I thought.”

A few more children asked to try.

Livy was the last to arrive.
“Is there any left?” she asked.

Nico tilted his lunchbox toward her. It was empty.

While they were talking, the teacher walked over.
“I see you’re all interested in Nico’s snack,” he said.

The children started talking at once.
“I loved it!”
“I liked it a little!”
“I didn’t get to try it!”

When the voices settled, the teacher looked at them and smiled.

The sun was shining in Feathernest Woods.
Today was a special day.
It was the day of the Spring Picnic.

The families were gathering in the Big Meadow.
There was much to do, and everyone was busy helping.

Mama Cat carried the blankets and the picnic toys.
Mama Bear was baking warm pies.
Mama Elephant was standing in the middle, holding a list.
She was the organizer.

“Let’s get everything ready,” Mama Elephant said.
She looked around at the helpers.

“Bobby, please wash the vegetables at the stream.”
Bobby the Bear nodded and trotted off with a basket of carrots.

“Lela, we need more chairs for the big table.”
Lela the Elephant carefully picked up two folding chairs.

She started walking.
Then her foot caught on a pile of sacks for the sack race.

Oh no!

The chairs tipped.
The sacks tumbled.
And Lela fell down.

Ploof!

For a moment, everything was quiet.
Then they all giggled.

Lela looked at the chairs and the sacks under her feet.
She giggled too.

“Well,” Lela said,
“I think I found the sacks for the race!”

Sissy the Cat and Fred the Frog rushed over to help.
Lela moved the chairs out of the way.
Sissy folded the sacks and placed them one on top of the other.
Fred bounced on the pile to make it nice and flat.

Mama Elephant looked back at her list.

“Sissy and Fred,” she said,
“Please set the picnic table.”

Fred puffed out his little chest.
“I can help!” he said proudly.

Sissy took a cup and placed it on the table.
Easy.

Fred picked up a plate.
He stretched.
He stretched more.

Sissy looked up.
All she could see were two frog eyes peeking over the edge of the table.

“Fred?” she asked.
“Still trying!” Fred’s voice called from below.

Fred bent his legs.
“Boing… boing… jump!”
He jumped.

The plate landed on the table…
Then… it slowly slid back down.

Plip.
Right onto Fred’s head.

Now Fred was wearing a plate hat.

Sissy burst into giggles.

Fred blinked.

“Well,” he said,
“This is a very good hat for sunny picnics.”

He tried again.

“Boing… boing… jump!”
But this time his hand landed on the napkins.

Poof!

Napkins flew into the air like little white birds.
They floated across the meadow.

Sissy ran after them, laughing.
Sissy placed the napkins back on the table.

Fred looked around the meadow.
Then his eyes brightened.
“I have an idea!”

He dragged a small basket next to the table.
Then he placed a stool on top.
He climbed up.

The basket wobbled.
The stool wobbled.
“Whoa!”

Sissy held the basket steady.

“What if you just used the stool?” Sissy suggested.

Fred climbed down.
He pushed the basket away.
Then he placed the stool beside the table.

Hop.

Now Fred was tall enough.
He placed one plate.
Then another.

Sissy placed the cups beside them.
Together, they set the whole table.

Mama Elephant walked by and looked at their work.

“Oh my,” she said with a smile.
“This looks wonderful.”

Fred’s little frog chest felt warm and proud.

Bobby returned from the stream with the clean vegetables.
Lela finished placing the chairs.
Sissy and Fred finished setting the table.

Everyone gathered around the picnic table.

Mama Elephant looked at the table and smiled.

“The spring picnic is ready,” she said.

The food smelled fresh and delicious.
Helping made the picnic feel even better.

Jojo lived in a cozy watermill cottage beside the Silverbrook River, where the water never stopped moving.

His room was his favorite place of all.

Everything had a place.

There were bins for toys, bins for books, and bins for special things. Each bin had a label on the front. Finding things was easy.

For a while, Jojo kept it that way.

But little by little, things began to drift. A toy that stayed on the floor, a book that didn’t make it back to the shelf.

Jojo noticed…
But then he forgot.

The bins were still there. They just weren’t being used as much.

One night, Jojo fell asleep quickly.
That was when Wizzy the Wizard arrived.

Wizzy loved building big dream adventures.
Wizzy always had his helpers with him. They carried pieces of dreams from place to place and always set up the most beautiful forests, castles, and winding paths.

Wizzy tiptoed into Jojo’s room.

Step—
CRASH.
“Oof,” Wizzy said, hopping on one foot.

Jojo stirred.
“Wizzy?” he mumbled.

“Ah… small problem,” Wizzy said, rubbing his foot.

Jojo blinked, looked around the room, and sighed.
“I’ll tidy tomorrow,” he said sleepily.

Then he rolled over and went back to sleep.

The next day, Jojo played with his ball, built with his bricks, and laughed.

“I’ll clean up later,” he thought.

But later turned into snack time. Snack time turned into reading. Reading turned into bedtime.
And Jojo forgot.

That night, Wizzy the Wizard came back.
He stepped carefully this time.
But Jojo’s wooden train wobbled and fell down.

Jojo woke up and looked around.
“Wizzy,” he asked, “where are your helpers?”

“They won’t come in,” Wizzy replied.

“Why not?” Jojo asked.

Wizzy tapped the floor with his wand.
“The paths are blocked,” he said.
“And helpers need clear paths to work.”

Jojo looked around.
“So… no helpers?”

Wizzy shook his head.
“No helpers,” he said.
“Which means the dream will have to be very small.”

That night, Jojo dreamed he rode a dragon.
But the sky felt empty. The forest was too plain. And the dragon didn’t go very far.

Jojo woke up with a frown.
“That wasn’t a very good adventure,” he said.

Jojo wanted the big dreams back.

He asked Livy and Fifi to come over. His friends stood in the doorway and looked around.

“The bins are still here,” Fifi said.
“And they’re labeled,” Livy added.

Livy pointed to the floor.
“I think the problem isn’t the bins,” she said.
“It’s that things aren’t going back where they belong.”

They decided to tidy together.

They started filling the bins.

After a while, the toy bin filled.
“The toys don’t fit anymore,” Jojo said.

Fifi looked at him.
“Let’s take everything out of the bin,” she said.
“And you can choose what’s important for you.”

Jojo picked up a toy he loved and placed it inside the bin.

Then he picked up another one.
He turned it over in his hands.
“I used to play with this a lot,” he said.
“But now I don’t.”

He thought for a moment.
“Someone else might enjoy this,” Jojo said.

He placed the toy into a bag to find a new home.

They kept going. Some choices were easy; others took longer.
When they finished, the room felt calm again, like it could breathe.

Before going to bed that night, Jojo looked around.
Some things were out of place, and he put them back.
The room felt peaceful again, and Jojo fell asleep easily.

Wizzy returned along with his helpers. They all walked around easily without bumping or stopping.

They built forests, and mountains, and winding paths that led everywhere.
Jojo dreamed the biggest adventure yet.

And this time,
nothing was in the way.

Sissy the Cat loved her room.
She loved her bed.

Stripy slept right beside her every night.

There were toys everywhere.
So many toys that Stripy sometimes got covered up.
Sometimes he had to wiggle just to get comfortable.

Stripy felt crowded.

One morning, Sissy went outside to play.
That’s when the toys began to talk.

Momo the Monkey stretched his long arms.
“I like climbing,” he said.
“But I don’t climb much anymore.”

Beep the Little Car wiggled his wheels.
“I like rolling,” he said.
“But I can’t move when I’m stuck under things.”

Benny the Bear didn’t say anything at first.
He sat very still, tucked behind a tall pile of toys.
Only his nose peeked out.

Stripy shifted his tail and sat up a little straighter.
“I think the room is too full,” he said.
“It’s hard to see everyone.”

Momo nodded.
Beep nodded too.

“We’re bored,” Benny said.

“Maybe the room needs more space,” Stripy said.
“I think I know who can help.”
“Sissy!”

That night, when Sissy snuggled into bed, Stripy leaned close.

“Sissy,” he whispered,
“Some toys feel a little hidden.”

Sissy sat up.

She looked around her room.
She saw piles. Toys on top of toys.

Then she spotted something soft behind them.

“Benny!” she gasped.

She pulled him free and hugged him tight.
“I forgot you were here!” she said.

Benny felt warm again.
“Some toys feel crowded,” Stripy said.
“And some toys feel bored.”

Sissy didn’t answer right away.
She held Stripy and Benny tight.

“You two can stay on my bed,” she said.
“You like being close.”

Sissy looked around the room again.
She spotted Momo and Beep.

“What about you?” she asked.

“I like roads,” he said.

His arms stretched high.
He laughed and climbed again and again.

Beep rolled along a winding path in Feathernest Woods.
He zoomed past trees and colorful flowers.
His wheels spun happily.

Back in Sissy’s room, things felt different, too.
There was space on the bed.
There was space to play on the floor.
Everything was easier to find.

Sissy smiled.
Her room felt lighter.
And everyone rested happily in their place.

Once upon a time, in Silverbrook Valley, there lived a little girl named Fifi, who loved to look at the stars.

She dreamed of faraway planets and space adventures. She did this so often that everyone called her “Stargazer Fifi”.
But falling asleep was hard for Fifi, even when her body felt tired.

One night, as she lay in bed trying to fall asleep, a soft glow filled her room.
Fifi looked up and saw a small spaceship hovering quietly outside her window.
A friendly alien named Alex stepped out. He had big, kind eyes and a warm smile.

“Hello, Fifi,” the alien said.

“I’m Alex. I come from a faraway planet. I heard you’re having trouble sleeping. “
”Would you like to come aboard my spaceship and learn more about my planet?”

Fifi’s eyes lit up with excitement.
“Yes, please!” she said.

Soon, she was aboard Alex’s spaceship, drifting through the starry sky.
As they traveled, Alex told Fifi about his planet, which was full of colorful lights and gentle creatures.

But there came a time when everyone on his planet had trouble falling asleep, just like Fifi.
Their nights were restless, and their days were messy and confusing.
So, they sent their smartest thinkers on a mission to discover the best ways to fall asleep.

Fifi listened to Alex’s story.
“What did you find out?” she asked.

“We visited many planets,” Alex said,
“And we discovered three different ways to fall asleep.“
”Now we need to decide which one is the best before we can go home.”

Fifi nodded.
“How will you decide this?” she asked.

Alex smiled.
“That’s where you come in, Fifi,” he said.
“Would you like to help us by trying them and choosing which one you like best?”

Fifi was excited to help.
“Yes, I’d love to!”

“The first way,” Alex said,
“is to think of all the things that made you happy during your day.“

Fifi closed her eyes and remembered seeing a rainbow and playing with her friends.

“How are you feeling?” Alex asked.
“I feel warm and cozy inside,” Fifi replied.

“What’s the second way?” Fifi asked.
“The second way is storytelling,” Alex replied.
“We tell each other magical stories that take us to faraway places and help us relax.”

Fifi loved stories and couldn’t wait to try this idea.
So Alex told her a magical story about a unicorn that could fly to the moon.
Fifi’s imagination flew with the unicorn, and she felt very calm and relaxed.

“What’s the third way?” Fifi asked.
“The third way is counting sheep,” Alex said.

They imagined fluffy space sheep, which, according to Alex, were much calmer than regular sheep.
The sheep jumped slowly over a fence, one by one.
Fifi felt her mind getting quieter with each jump.

Fifi yawned and looked at Alex.

“I think they all work well,” she said.

“But my favorite is storytelling. It makes me feel like I’m part of a wonderful adventure.”

Alex nodded.

With a gentle whoosh, the spaceship returned to Fifi’s house. Alex tucked Fifi into her cozy bed.

“Goodnight, Fifi. Remember, you can use any of these ways to help you sleep.”
“Goodnight, Alex,” Fifi whispered, feeling her eyes grow heavy.
“Thank you for the adventure.”

Fifi’s breathing slowed as she drifted into sleep.
